About the Artist
Throughout his career, Scott Dow has been a bronze caster, marble and stone sculptor, furniture designer, tattoo artist and painter. When he picked up a chainsaw, he found an immediate speed and fluidity to apply his creative expertise in a region where the forestry resources are abundant.
When the housing market collapsed in 2008 and consequently the furniture industry, Scott transitioned from furniture design into carving and establishing his studio. By 2011 he was carving full time with inventory consisting mainly of wildlife and figurative pieces. Driven to develop a niche market, Scott began to create tables combining all of his education, training, and skill into a truly one-of-a-kind medium. His tables feature mythological creatures, wildlife, and figurative forms. They have gone “viral" in over 50 reels, and have been sold and shipped around the world. Some have tried to copy on CNC, or create their own, but there is only one original.
On the competition platform, Scott won the US Open in 2012 then went on to the international forum at the Blockhausen Husky Cup in Germany on an American team in 2012, and 2014. In May of 2023 he was again invited to the Husky Cup to collaborate with Bob King in the Masters of the Masters’ Competition. He has an established studio and gallery in Corry, PA where he completes commissioned works and specializes in human and wildlife figurative carvings as well as angels and mantels.
Scott is the proud father of three children Zach, Anna, and Maggie and husband of 32 years to Jen. Over the span of 15 years he battled metastatic melanoma four times and won! He loves to ride motorcycles and mountain bikes, listen to podcasts and lectures daily to continue to educate himself, and he loves to sing and listen to music of all genres.
